A new puppy!

Today was Maddie's 3rd day at puppy school, last week we only had 3 other dogs there so there wasn't much excitement.

Today we had a new dog (he wasn't so well behaved) and a new puppy! The puppy was 12 weeks old and the same color as Maddy! He wasn't so happy with being there, he had his tail between his legs and was SCARED of the big dogs! Maddy was complemented on how well she was doing (she has only been there three times as mentioned above and is staying, sitting and getting there with healing) and of course everyone said how cute she was (she knows this only too well!)

So after a great hour or more of charging around with the other dogs and sitting on the icky muddy floor we had to have a SHOWER! I don't know if you remember but Maddy didn't like the bath so much...this time round I mad sure to get the water to a nice temperature and decided that the shower you be a better place to try this. She still didn't like it so much but didn't go running away like she tried in the bath tub. By the end the floor was COVERED in water and we got to play with the squeegee to clean the water up...it was so much fun!

Now it's time for a nice nap before Emilia and Sophia come over!!

Dog school take two

So today we tried a new Dog school, it's in a big open field not far from Germany. The dogs had great fun, they ran arround and played before class got underway then we worked on healing and not jumping at dogs as they come past. We definitely have to work on heal with maddy. Followed by more play and then more healing and sitting.

Maddy did very well with the playing, she loved being around so many new dogs!

Long time no update

So Maddy has been up to so many great things lately that I haven't had time to update her blog I'm such a bad mother :)

Maddy has now gone to her first day at school and hasn't gone back since! They did 30min of training and 30min of PLAY TIME! The training was not what we were looking for, they started talking about pronged collars for our note even 3 month old puppy! Maddy love the play time with other puppies her age though. If we could go just for that we'd be there every week.

Maddy has had her first official photo taken, Dan had to go and get his done for work so along came Maddy, it's just too cute!

A busy weekend!

This past weekend was so exciting for Maddy! We had visitors, payed visits and met new animals!

Saturday started out like any other Saturday, a bit of a sleep in (yeh right!) and then some crazy puppy play action. After some house work (we got to meet the mop, it's so fun) we headed out to do some errands, Maddy did so well in the car, no complaining about having to stay in the car when we went into the shops. While our we got a guard to put in the Mini so Maddy can ride in the back. Maddy had her first few rides in the back on Sunday and did very well!

Saturday evening we had some guests over for a quick drink before going out for dinner. This was the first time we had so many people over, it was so exciting! Maddy said hello to everyone and then just got a bit too into the festive spirit so she started to try and get up on the sofa, a big NO NO! So Maddy had to come and sit next to me on her leash. She did much better there and calmed down a lot. We even managed to show everyone the great tricks that we can now do...Sit, down and roll! Dinner went well, Maddy is becoming and expert at sleeping in restaurants.

Sunday was the normal, lunch at Dan's parents house and then a quick trip to a friends house to play with their dogs. Maddy had played so much during lunch that she was ready to fall asleep as soon as we were in the car so playing wasn't on her mind when we got to the dogs. After a little socialization we headed inside where we met some birds and a rabbit! Oh the excitement! While we were hanging out in the living room Maddy noticed that there was a fish tank in the room, she's never seen one and this was on the floor at Maddy hight! The fish were so interesting, Dan took a film on his phone:

Maddy is getting super good at her sitting and lying down stunts, now dan is teaching her to roll over (very cute)

Today was the first time that Maddy had to wait for Dan through a board meeting (1.5 hours). She did rather well but got a bit lonely after a while. She made it almost the whole time with no peeing, it just came out in the last 10min :(

Tomorrow Maddy gets to meet a new dog, one of the people at Dan's office will be bringing in her big bernese to play, I'm sure maddy will love him :)

After work Dan had a dentists appointment so Maddy got to go and play with her grandparents, they had so much fun playing, Maddy fell asleep on her grampie's lap!

I'm too excited

As yesterday was Sunday we made out normal trip to Dan's parents house to have lunch and Maddy came with.

last week Maddy got excited and then fell asleep. This week we were so excited and wanted to eat what everyone had on their plates so we gave Maddy a carrot to chew on (note chew on) Maddy doesn't eat carrot she only chews them and leaves a huge orange mess in her wake.

I've been trying to find something that we can give her that won't produce such a mess but it's hard, everything is beef (maddy can't eat this at the moment, to fattening) or rawhide which is apparently NOT good for dogs.

After lunch we visited one of our friends and had a quick look around his apartment, Maddy was rather good here, a bit of whining and pulling to see new things but she calmed down quickly and even showed our friends her two good tricks, sit and down :)

Maddy has now gone off to work with Dan, her first full day of work...and I'm off to get a baby gate for Dan's office door.

A dry day

Maddy is now 8 weeks old and had her first day at home with no accidents yesterday! I guess maybe it was because I was watching her like a hawk and took her out at the slightest possibility that she may have to go to the bathroom. We did have a few close calls but we caught them all.

Last night was Maddies 4th night in her crate after the "situation" and she is doing great, she went straight to sleep and we didn't have to get up until almost 6 this morning (we didn't go to bed until 11 so thats an hour later that I've been going to bed)

Dan came home last night and it was the most excited I've seen Maddy, she was all over him! I half expected her to have an excitement accident!

We have decided to take a photo of Maddy every week so we can see Maddy grow, there has been such a change since Dan went away on Wednesday! First pic will be up soon.

Toy number two

So after we got maddy we realized that the toys that we had for her didn't appear to be that interesting to her so we went to the pet store and got her some new toys. Are big thing was that they shouldn't squeak. We managed to find a few and were getting ready to check out when I found a strange rope/ring/stuffed ball/tennis ball combination toy. We picked that up too.

Fast-forward one week and it's dead, the stuffed part of it has been ripped and the stuffing is coming out.

So Maddy and I headed out to have lunch with one of my childhood friends at a pizza place, everyone loved Maddy and she did rather well and calmed down after about 20 or 30 min.

After lunch Maddy and I headed back to the pet store where we got her toy and grabbed a new one :) Maddy is now happy with her new toy.

Maddy is dong well with sit, down and come so I have now starting trying to teach her the name of one of her toys. It's going well, I just hope the toy lasts :)

A good nights sleep

Last night was probably the best nights sleep that I've had since we got Maddy, we went to bed at around 10 and both of us were asleep within roughly half an hour. Maddy slept right through until 4:00 this morning, it did take her about 30 min to calm down after that but then i got to sleep until....7:30!

We are still working on the eating thing, we will probably start feeding Maddy some new food as we aren't super happy with the pedegree that she is getting at the moment (and apparently she isn't as she doesn't eat enough of it).

Big Dogs

Today Maddy went with me to see my flower girls mother to talk about their dresses. Both girls were at home with a friend. Maddy is so well with them, she only got a bit excited towards the end.

The family also have a golden retriever and a great pyrenees who both spend most of their time in the garden. Dan and I both know that these two just aren't the right type of dog to let Maddy around at the moment (the pyrenees likes to play and doesn't know when enough is enough) so they stayed outside during the visit but maddy got to meet them through the kitchen window. she had so much fun running up and down with them and wanted so bad to go and hang around with them.

Maddy is getting much better with car trips, she is calming down much faster than when we first started taking her in the car without a person with her (she would whine and try to get in the drivers lap).

Maddy has decided that her dog bed is a great place to play and a nifty chew toy so that is being put away unless she is sleeping in it.

Today has been a better day with the toilet, just a few accidents...we'll get it one day!

Walks

Yesterday was our first day without Dan, he left for Finland at 6:30 in the morning and we were up to see him go.

As we were up so early we had breakfast, played some and then Maddy had to take a nap, time for me to eat something.

Today was the first day that Maddy has eaten almost the correct amount of food for her (according to the dog food company). Normally Maddy doesn't eat much and doesn't eat out of he bowl. Today I added cottage cheese and hey presto Maddy went through almost a whole bowl of food!

We went for a nice walk in the morning in the woods and then again by my parents house. By the time we got home Maddy was exhausted and slept for about 1 and 1/2 hours when we got back.

Our second walk was the most exciting of the day, we met a barking dog (behind a fence) a barking dog (in a garage) and a nice big dog who we said hello to. What a day!

Maddy managed to sleep in her crate last night, she had her pee schedule a bit off though and instead of sleeping most of the way through the night we were up at 12:00 and 3:00 then slept until 6:45!

The Children

Maddy continues to do better every day, we're working on making sure she gets enough food (she doesn't like her food bowl so we are working on that at the moment) This morning she ate almost all the food that was put down for her (we put it on the floor from the bowl because she doesn't like the noise it makes in the bowl.

Yesterday Maddy spend almost all day with Dan at the office and apparently did very well but she's eating her dog bed and playing with it so that has been taken away from her.

After Maddy got dropped off at home some luxembourgish kids came around singing for candy and money Maddy was asleep when the kids came to our house but after she woke up I took her out to use the fecilities and the kids were on the other side of the street (there were about 12 -15). At first Maddy was a bit scared and tried to run back in the house (didn't happen) and then she warmed up to them all she wanted to do was get at them. I made Maddy stay on our side of the street as I don't want her running across the street to meet people. We calmed down, sat and watched the kids.

Oh Maddy has found two new things that she likes to do, watch the cars drive past the house through the window and watch CSI :)

Last night was (fingers crossed) the last night that Maddy will sleep in her dog bed in our room for a while...tonight the crate goes back upstairs for her to sleep in.

Maddie's first day at work

Yesterday marked day 3 and Maddy had an appointment at the Vets to get her checked over and get her chip put in (it's a requirement over here).

The vets went well, Maddy is in great shape but....she has Pink eye!! So we now have to put cream in her eye for the next two weeks or so!! Other than that the trip went well and Maddy behaved so well.

At lunchtime Maddy went for her first (half) day at work with Dan she was a huge hit with everyone (including the boss) and she even went for her first meeting :) So far so well.

All we need to do now is work on the pee thing, she doesn't do much during the day to let us know that she needs to go, at night it's much better she sleeps through to around 5 in the morning and then it's time for a pee.

Grandparent visits

As today is sunday we went for our weekly visit to Dan's parents house. Maddy came along too. Dan's parents just LOVED her, apparently she was all they talked about the morning before we arrived. This trip was to be Maddie's first real experience with a CAT! When Maddy made it up the stairs the cat had already made it onto Maddie's fluffy blanket that we keep in the car for Restaurants or home visits. Maddy wasn't sure what the four legged creature on her mat was but she was willing to find out, the cat however, wasn't so receptive. After a long time of backwards and forwards Maddy got just a bit tooo close and got thwacked in the nose by the cat! She came back to us patting her nose with her paw (she was such a drama queen!)

After lunch (which Maddy slept through) we popped in to see some friends with two dogs, one of which was a Boxer. They were so happy so see Maddy! The boxer was fixated on her and wanted to play so badly! Sadly Maddy was a bit too small for the pay :(

When we arrived home my parents were waiting for us and Maddy was ready to play! My Dad was soo excited and had her playing and running all over the place!

Now Maddy is sleeping (no quite so soundly...she snores) in her crate :)

Maddie's first day home

Well Maddy has been home with us for one whole day now! We've had a few accidents but nothing major, it's mostly because we haven't been paying attention to when she tells us she needs to go.

We were planning on making a trip to Ikea on Saturday to get a wardrobe for our second bedroom. Dan went to go and pick up the trailer so Maddy had to come with me to get ready. I let her our onto the terrace and what did she find in the door...a second puppy! She said hello to the new puppy oh it was so interesting!

After making it to Ikea (read sleeping) we left maddy in the trunk of the car with some treats after 20 min in the store I went to check on her...no Maddy in the trunk, no Maddy in the back seat....where is Maddy? She had somehow made it to the front of the car and was asleep in the driver seat :) Oh Maddy!!

After Ikea we met Nina up for lunch at an Italian reseraunt where Maddy got to meet a baby girl and two children how interesting everything was. Maddy was the hit of the place!

On our way home we picked up some new toys as apparently the ones that we had just weren't that interesting, we now have a great toy with alsorts of places to pick it up and chew!

Bed time wa now where as good as the first night when all it took was a few min of me being next to her crate before she went to sleep so she slept in her dog bed and it worked out great! Only waking up at 1 and 5:30 to go and pee!

Today is the day that we get Maddy, her bed is ready, we have her food and her bowl ready. We are both so excited! I hope everything goes well on the ride home. Our friend Tommie's dog threw up on his ride home!

Dan will be picking me up from work tonight around 5:00 and we will leave my car there so Sat. we will have to go and pick up my car so Maddy will experience her first car ride with only one person in the car, how exciting!

As Maddie's Mum hasn't got any more milk and all her brothers and sisters have gone to their new homes Maddy will be coming home sooner! We will (as long as everything goes according to plans) pick her up on Friday after work which means that this week we will be working on getting everything in place for our little girl!

Maddy it is!

It's been just over two weeks since Dan and I went to go and look at 6 bouncing boxer puppies. Three of these six puppies were still looking for a home, one girl and two little boys all brown and all adorable.

After some discussion (some one didn't want a girl) the little girl wiggled her cute self into our hearts, Maddy would be coming home with us.

Our bedroom is now home to a rather LARGE dog crate and we have a large dog bed full of doggy things just waiting for our precious little girl.

Today we made our weekly trip to see the little one and found out that Maddie's mum has ran out of milk and the puppies can all go home. So today there was only our little Maddy and a brother left. Maddy won't be coming home until 2 Feb so that Dan and I can get everything ready and I have a holiday to spend a few important days teaching Maddy how things work at home.

Not much time left before we are woken up at all hours so we can take our puppy out to pee!
